About Harry
I’m Harry, an Eton College graduate currently taking a gap year. I’m interested in applied mathematics and how we use models, computation, and experiments to understand the physical world.
My research began with computational simulations of how erosion affects aerofoils. Wanting to explore these questions experimentally, I designed and tested 3D-printed propellers, measuring their thrust and power consumption. Moving from simulations to physical equipment introduced new questions about what I could measure and how confidently I could interpret the results.
Later experiments with corrugated propellers produced unexpectedly low and inconsistent thrust. Retesting the equipment and discussing the results with my mentor challenged my assumption that every project should produce a clear answer. I became more willing to share unresolved problems, question the setup, and change direction when the evidence warranted it.
Beyond research, my experience recovering from concussion inspired me to create Cagoga, a card game intended to increase awareness and help people discuss symptoms and support.
I enjoy playing sports and travelling with my family, as well as spending time with my cat, Snowball.
